An ancient historic site in Scotland to be revealed for the first time in 40 years to under go 3D laser scans, known as the Cochno Stone.
The Cochno Stone is a large Cup and ring market rock at Auchnacraig, Faifley, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. The Bronze Age stone measuring 42 feet (13 m) by 26 feet (7.9 m) was rediscovered in 1887 by the Rev. James Harvey. It features around 90 carved indentations, considered to be one of the finest sets ofpetroglyphs in Scotland.
The petroglyphs also include a ringed cross and a pair of four toed feet. Researchers are now using cutting edge 3D imaging technology to record the ancient artwork to allow them to study it in more detail.
A light in the late night sky north of Dale Noel's home stopped him in his tracks last Sunday night.
''When I seen the light, it was like flying and the light was pulsing like it was getting brighter and brighter the further it was getting,'' he said.
He ran to tell his fiance he thought a plane's wing was on fire, but returned outside to an empty sky.
''We both looked up in the sky and we saw the same thing. It made the same pass, so we started recording it, '' he said, ''It was lightning up, lightning up, lightning up and then it blew up in the same spot the other one did. And then a third one came by.'' ''We were just kind of freaking out, like what is this, what is this?'' Noel said.
Noel took the debate to his Facebook page where some friends suggested drones, others suggested flares. They also checked with the American Meteor Society who said it wasn't necesarilly a meteor, or fireball, but it could have been space debris. We checked with NASA, who said it may not have been either.
''The problem you run into is that it's too slow for a meteor and you don't get multiple pieces of space debris burning up in the same area in the same night,'' said Dr. Bill Cooke, lead of the NASA Meteoroid Environmental Office.
Dr. Cooke said there were no other sightings reported in the state that night with them, or with the military's Space Command, which monitors space debris.

The supermoon (perigee full moon) on November 14, 2016, will bring the moon closer to Earth than it has been since January 26, 1948.
What's more, the moon won't come this close to Earth again until November 25, 2034. That makes the November 2016 full moon the closest and largest supermoon in a period of 86 years!
The moon will turn at 8:52 a.m. EST (1352GMT), just 2.4 hours after it comes within just 221,541 miles (356,536 km) of the planet. (The moon's average distance from Earth in its elliptical orbit is 238,900 miles, or 384,470 km).
Expect a large range in ocean tides (exceptionally low to exceptionally high) for the next few days.
Major earthquakes may be triggered by the moon say Japanesse researchers
A new study has argued that major earthquakes, such as those that devastated Indonesian in 2004, Chile in 2010 and Japan in 2011, are more likely to occur during full and new moons - the two occasions during each month when tidal stresses are highest.
Researchers found ''that there is strong correlation between tidal stress fluctuation and earthquake occurence in several regions close to the epicenter of the Tohoku earthquake''.
The study, published in the journal 'Nature Science' and conducted by a team from the University of Tokyo, argues that the same gravitational influence that the moon has on the oceans may also trigger earthquakes along Earth's most fragile fault lines.
The reasearch team calculated the levels of 'tidal stress' before major earthquakes of the last few decades and found that high levels of stress were often followed by major quakes.

''About a month ago my wife and I saw something very similar to this. I went into the house to get my camera. When I came back it was no longer there.
Todat, 9/16/16, we witnessed the same thing. We were relaxing outside on our patio and I looked up. There was a white dot in the sky. It was pretty much stationary. I asked my wife to get my camera. It had not moved and I went back in to get my telephoto lens. A 55 to 300 mm zoom.
I took several pictures of the object. Not having anything for size reference I could not determine the altitude that it was at. The sky was perfectly clear and what struck me interesting was that there was not air traffic the whole time we were outside. We were outside for approximately 45 minutes. We went into the house to prepare dinner. I checked on it several times and it was still visible. So the entire time it was directly overhead was probably an hour. I stopped looking at that time.

It was silent and appeared to be stationary. It did move from west to the east over the hour we watched it. If I were to estimate the distance it traveled in that timeframe...I would put it at 1 to 2 miles at the most.
Our dogs were outside with us and showed no behavior change or even sensed what we were seeing. I used a Nikon 12 mp camera with the telephoto to take the pictures. I probably shot over 100. It was just so slow moving that I took several in hopes of getting some clear images.

On September 18, Frankie Lucena of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, photographed an enormous sprite over the Caribbean Sea. For a split-second, the sky was illuminated by a mushroom-shaped flash: Oscar van der Velde, a member of the Lightning Research Group at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, explains what Lucena photographed:
''This type of sprite is often called 'jellyfish' or 'A-bomb,' and ranks as the largest type of sprite in both horizontal and vertical dimensions, '' he says. ''It consists of a bright halo approximately 85 km above Earth's surface surrounding sprite elements with long tendrils reaching down as low as 30 km above ground level.''
''This kind of sprite tends to be triggered by a very impulsive positive cloud-to-ground flash,'' van der Velde said to spaceweather.
The curios thing is, Lucena did not observe an instigating lightning bolt. Instead, just before the sprite appeared, he recorded a bright point-like flash of light. ''Was it a cosmic ray hitting the camera?'' wonders Lucena. Another possibility: The point-like flash could have been a cloud-to-ground strike mostly eclipsed by intervening clouds.
Eyewitness states: ''I arrived a little after dark at a campground in N.W Nevada. I set up my tent and started a fire, and did a few other things to set up camp. It was a clear night, plenty of stars out. After I got everything set up I was sitting by the campfire maybe 20 minutes when something flashing out the corner of my eye made me turn my head, looking to the west. I could kind of see an outline of some hills/mountains to the west as I looked to where the flashes drew my attention, two bright yellow arcs appeared over the top of the hill/mountain.

At first I thought it was two objects, I think now it was just one, moving so fast it left a trail, it made two arcs flying above the hill/mountain then diving down then back up I guess. It was a bright yellow object, NO flames/jets, the object itself was glowing yellow, strangest yellow...kind of like a spark shooting up out of a fire, the spark is burning and leaving a trail as it shoots up. I had never seen anything like this, I went to my truck and got my phone and turned on the video to record, I grabbed my chair and was moving it away from the fire to try and sit and get some video if it flew out from behind the hills/mountains, I wanted to be ready to catch it on video.

As I was moving the chair and keeping an eye to the sky I saw a bright orange sphere, it was also to my west, more to the south of the firstt object, I held up the phone to get video of the orange sphere, and may have gotten a second or two of it on video before it disappeared. But as soon as it disappeared a strange white streak appeared and was gone in a second. I couldn't tell if the white streak was the orange sphere moving incredibly fast or if it was something else. But as the white streak faded, the first object came out from behind the hill/mountain heading south kind of towards where the orange sphere was. The bright yellow object did not leave a trail this time, it was solid yellow from what I could see with my eyes. It appeared to skip, but after looking at the video a thousand times, it was actually zig zagging, but from my point of view it headed south past where the orange object was and then appeared to flash many times and fade from sight.

On video you can see an object flying into or out of the bright yellow object, but it's moving so fast I can't tell which way it's going, I'm only able to catch it on one frame. After watching the video, I was able to see that after it went south past where the orange sphere was, then it actually went west away from me fading out of sight. I kept the video going a few minutes after everything was out of sight in case something else appeared. After all of them were out of sight my knees actually buckled and I finally started to breathe again. I sat with my phone in hand in the chair watching the sky for maybe an hour before trying to sleep.''
The video was not included in the original MUFON report, which was filed on March 12, 2016.

Perhaps the most thorough examination into the UFO issue was conducted by the U.S. Air Force. They began their investigation in 1948. It was called Project Sign, then changed its name to Project Grudge, and finally changed its name once again to Project Blue Book.
As for the results, the Air Force states:

However, upon closer examination of the thousands of files released regarding the Blue Book investigations, it becomes apparent that the Air Force's conclusions were not shared by everyone involved in the investigation, and that there were some truly fascinating cases that remain unsolved.
Often people say they will not believe in UFOs until they land on the White House lawn. Well, one of the most famous and mysterious Blue Book cases came close.
UFO sightings over Washington, DC in July 1952 made worldwide headlines and left the U.S. Air Force dazed and confused. The events spanned several days and included multiple radar identifications of unknown aircraft, some of which were correlated by witnesses on the ground. Many of the sightings caused the air force to scramble jet fighters, and in each of these cases, the UFOs outmaneuvered the jets. This all culminated into what may be the most important official U.S. Air Force UFO investigation of all time.''
Monte Sierpe, known as the Band of Holes is a series of about 5,000-6,000 man-sized holes found in the Pisco Valley on the Nazca Plateau in Peru. Local people have no idea who made them or how they were used.

It wasn't there on the photo before and it wasn't there on the photo after. There were only a few seconds between photos. I send the three photos to Gary Mobley, the Florida Mufon State Section Director to view. He stated that if you blow the object up, it appears to be a cylinder. He told me to report it.''

A 180ft-wide crop circle cut in a Nazi swastika-like design has mysteriously appeared in a field in Wiltshire, southwest England.
The farmer who tends to the field in Beckhampton, near Avery, said he was shocked to discover the formation which had appeared overnight, saying he had not made it and had not given anyone else permission to.

NASA's Juno spacecraft completed its first orbit of the gas giant on August 27th 2016. During its approach and flyby it captured new images and data of Jupiter. Not only did it take optical images but also thermal and infrared as well as capturing Jupiters unique radio waves.
The images captured by the Juno spacecraft show storms and weather unlike anywhere else in the solar system.
The infrared image from Juno provides an unprecedented view of Jupiter's southern aurora. Such views are not possible from Earth.
''First glimpse of Jupiter's north pole, and it looks like nothing we have seen or imagined before, '' said Scott Bolton, principal investigator of Juno from the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio.
''Saturn has a hexagon at the north pole. There is nothing on Jupiter that anywhere near resembles that. The largest planet in our solar system is truly unique,'' said Bolton.
Eyewitness states: ''I was on my deck, right after a rain storm, taking pictures of the skyline. I didn't see anything until I uploaded my photos and noticed a gray streak in one of the pictures. I enlarged the area and was amazed by what I saw. It was a clear image of what looked like a flying saucer. You could see three lights/windows on the top of the craft.''
Witness report: ''Three objects, very orange with no blinking, rotating around each other. At 9:13 three bright orange objects were seen to the northeast of our home. they were moving slowly to the west and rotating around each other slowly. our neighbors came out and we all witnessed it and had all agreed that we have never seen anything in the sky like that before. the objects blinked out and then reappeared 10 minutes later at the same location in the sky as when we first saw them and moving in the same direction. the second sighting also lasted for approximately 6 minutes before the three orange light abruptly disappeared.''
